A Suffolk man has pleaded guilty to five counts of sex crimes related to the inappropriate touching of a female juvenile.
John David Street, 52, of the 700 block of Turlington Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of object sexual penetration of a victim under 13; one count of aggravated sexual battery of a victim under 13; and one count of indecent liberties with a child.
The incidents happened in 2001 through 2003, when the victim was 10 to 12 years old, according to prosecutor Marie Walls.
“It wasn’t one that came to the knowledge of our office or the police department or really to anyone until a long time after the incidents,” Walls said, noting the victim came forward after she was an adult.
In a transcript of a police interview filed with court papers, Street admitted to fondling and French-kissing the victim. He also admitted to asking another girl about the same age as his victim for a lap dance but said it was a joke.
A jury trial was set to begin Monday, but Street pleaded guilty before it took place.
Thirty-one charges were not prosecuted as part of a plea agreement. His sentencing is set for Sept. 17.
