Accountability lacking on Route 460

To the editor:

In our legal system today, a person stealing a loaf of bread would be punished. He could serve a prison sentence or make restitution.

What has happened to Sean Connaughton, the former Virginia Secretary of Transportation? In my opinion, Connaughton squandered $260 million on the proposed U.S. Route 460 project, which has yet to be approved, much less built.

This money came out of the pockets of Virginia taxpayers. Where is the accountability in this situation? He has been appointed head of the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association.

In my opinion, someone with better money management skills would be better suited for such a daunting task.
