Lakeland High School will be hosting the “Old School Classic” for the second consecutive year, featuring basketball teams from Suffolk’s old high schools. This year’s event will take place on Aug. 7 at 6 p.m.

Like last year, the event will pit Forest Glen High School against Suffolk High School and John Yeates High School against John F. Kennedy High School, with a mixture of former Surry County, Sussex Central, Smithfield and Franklin high school players lending their talents.

There will be contests, concessions and door prizes. The Suffolk Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an “EZ Child ID” station where parents can receive a free ID card for their child.

The proceeds from this event help the Lakeland boys’ basketball team in acquiring apparel and paying for other expenses. Donations will be requested at the door.
