Shooting suspect sought

A suspect has been named in a July 9 shooting, and police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating him.

Dazeion Jawan Houseworth, 21, of Suffolk, is wanted on charges of aggravated malicious wounding, attempted armed robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, shoot, stab, cut or wound, and discharge a firearm in public with injury.

The charges stem from a July 9 shooting in the 300 block of Holladay Street about 10:17 p.m. last Thursday, according to a city press release. The victim, a 22-year-old male, was located nearby in the 400 block of Bank Street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

According to an updated press release from the city on Friday, Houseworth is described as 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 150 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and dreadlocks.

“Houseworth should be considered armed and extremely dangerous,” the press release stated. “He is known to carry firearms. If seen, do not attempt to interact with him but immediately contact 911.”

Houseworth is known to frequent the Hollywood Avenue and Holladay Street areas, according to the release.
