Fire considered suspicious

Fire marshals are investigating a Saturday evening fire that is considered suspicious, according to a city press release.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Suffolk Police responded to a report of a commercial structure fire in the 1000 block of East Washington Street at A & A Open Market at 9:23 p.m., according to the release. 

The first units arrived on scene at 9:26 p.m. and found what was described as a very small fire on the exterior of the vacant building. The fire was marked under control at 9:48 p.m. There were no injuries.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is handling the investigation, as the cause of the fire is considered suspicious at this time, according to the release.
