The following Virginia Tech students from Suffolk and Isle of Wight County were among those honored at the university’s spring commencement ceremony held May 15 in Lane Stadium.
Approximately 4,500 bachelor’s and associate degree candidates, along with their families and friends, attended the on-campus ceremony presided by Virginia Tech President Timothy Sands. The commencement address was given by Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt.
- Corin Hogge, of Battery Park, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
- Kendall Boyd, of Carrollton, received a Bachelor of Science in business degree in business information technology from the Pamplin College of Business.
- Joseph Edwards, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction from the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.
- Taylor Elliott, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the College of Science.
- Aaron Gringer, of Smithfield, received two Bachelor of Science degrees in biological science and in human nutrition, foods and exercise, magna cum laude, from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Nigel Guishard, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
- Albert Hinman, of Smithfield, received two Bachelor of Science degrees in nanoscience and in biological sciences, summa cum laude, from the College of Science.
- Alexander Manrique, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Science in business degree in finance from the Pamplin College of Business.
- Matthew Rauchenberger, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering.
- Virginia Stowe, of Smithfield, received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the College of Science.
- Ciara Viola, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science in business degree cum laude in management from the Pamplin College of Business.
- Kelly Byrum, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal and poultry sciences from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Kelsey Edwards, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the College of Science.
- Matthew Krogsund, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science in business degree in hospitality and tourism management from the Pamplin College of Business.
- Jenna Langston, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in food science and technology from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Cassandra Meakin, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree magna cum laude in biological sciences from the College of Science.
- Nicole Tsetsilas, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition, foods, and exercise from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Paige Imhof, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in animal and poultry sciences from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Donghoon Lee, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Arts in communication degree in public relations from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
- Taylor Neuburg, of Suffolk, received a Bachelor of Science degree in human development from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
- Justin Duck, of Windsor, received a Bachelor of Science in forest resources and environmental conservation degree in forestry from the College of Natural Resources and Environment.
- Kelsey Smith, of Windsor, Smith received a Bachelor of Arts in communication degree magna cum laude in multimedia journalism from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
