The incident was reported at 5:47 p.m. on Friday. Rescue workers were called to the 40 block of Holland Lane.

Emergency crews found neighbors and family providing CPR to the girl, Riddle said earlier. She was treated at the scene, transported by ambulance to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department and then flown by helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Riddle said the Windsor Police Department is working to complete its investigation into the incident. He said earlier it appears to be accidental.

“The love and support shown by the members of this community has been overwhelming, and we would ask the community to continue to keep the family and friends in their thoughts and prayers,” he said.

Additional information will be released upon the completion of the investigation.
