Patricia “Pat” T. Rainey, 70, peacefully slipped away on Aug. 8, 2015, at home with her family.

Cherishing Pat’s memories are her husband, Dr. Vernon L. Rainey; daughter, Valerie Rainey Theiss (Robert II); mother, Rosa T. Cross; grandsons, Jason Jeremiah Theiss and Dylan James Theiss; brother, Robert L. Turner Jr. (Shirley); sister, RoseMary T. Swindell; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and beloved friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Franklin Jr., Chenell Peterson, and Sentara Hospice Services for the outstanding care Pat received.

A memorial service honoring Pat will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Hampton University Chapel. A gathering celebrating her life will immediately follow at the Hampton University McGrew Towers Conference Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s name may be made to Hampton University.
