Hodges graduates basic training

Army Spc. Lonnie G. Hodges has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition, core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons and chemical warfare. He completed field exercises in bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, basic first aid and foot marches.
Hodges is the son of Barbara A. Hodges of Suffolk.
He is a 2005 graduate of King’s Fork High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Virginia Union University, Richmond.
