City Council on Wednesday gave unanimous approval to Toke Hookah Lounge on West Washington Street being able to have live entertainment.

“It’s been a long journey,” said LaTroy Brinkley, co-owner with Eurnicka Artis. “We hope with your approval tonight we can enhance the downtown area.”

Downtown guru Andy Damiani, who owns several buildings across the street and lives in one of them, urged council to give the business a chance.

“We need to encourage them,” he said.

City Councilman Don Goldberg said he had visited the business.

“It’s well done; it looks great,” he said.
