Suffolk police were investigating a fatal accident Saturday afternoon in the 800 block of Great Fork Road.

The accident involved a 2005 Pontiac two-door sedan that left the road and landed on its roof in the ditch, according to Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead on the scene by Suffolk Fire and Rescue personnel.

Thomasina Houk, 41, died at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while the investigation continued. Police suggested using Little Fork Road as a detour.
