Who’s ready for school?
Published 6:29 pm Saturday, September 5, 2015
We’re as excited as parents that school begins this Tuesday for students in Suffolk Public Schools.
While parents are likely glad the children are out from under their feet, we’re looking forward to reporting on the progress both students and teachers make in the coming year. And we’re not just talking about the SOLs here.
As we have throughout the history of this newspaper, the Suffolk News-Herald wants to continue featuring not just the academics, but also the athletics and extracurricular activities that are so integral to a fulfilling school experience. By documenting scholarships earned, trophies awarded or lessons learned, the paper provides chronicles worth remembering. Many clippings find their way into personal scrapbooks.
Faculty, staff and administration: Please let us know about people or events worthy of reporting. You can even send photos and information to us via email at news@suffolknewsherald.com. If you send photos, please be sure to identify the people in the photos. Of course, you can always call us at 539-3437.
As long as we have your attention, there’s one other matter worth repeating. Now that classes resume this Tuesday — did we already say this Tuesday? — drivers are urged to be extra careful during the morning or afternoon commutes. Students will be making their way to and fro on foot, bicycle and bus. Keep an eye out for them, and don’t even think about driving around the school bus that has a stop sign out.
