Two people from Suffolk recently were appointed to state boards by Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
Retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral David Architzel, president of Fairlead Boat Works Inc., will serve as special adviser to the Unmanned Systems Commission, a new creation by the governor. The commission will serve to support the industry of unmanned systems in Virginia, including such technologies as aerial and marine drones and self-driving cars, according to the governor’s executive order.
Felicia L. Hamilton, an educator in Portsmouth Public Schools and an alumna of the Virginia Partners in Policymaking program, will serve on the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, which aims to advance opportunities for independence, personal decision-making and full participation in community life for people with all kinds of disabilities.
