‘Most Wanted’ man arrested

A Suffolk man who has been on the Suffolk Police Department’s Most Wanted list for more than two years was arrested Monday.

Marvin Vasti Jacobs, 36, was arrested on charges of felonious assault, shooting in the commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in a public plus, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and four counts of revocation of a suspended sentence.

Jacobs is the suspect in a July 31, 2013, shooting of a 31-year-old man on Beech Street in the downtown area. The victim survived his injuries after being airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Police at the time said they responded to several calls of shots fired about 10:49 p.m. that Wednesday night in the 600 block of East Washington Street. Once there, they determined the victim had been shot several times following a verbal confrontation in the 300 block of Beech Street and then ran to East Washington Street to seek assistance.

Warrants were issued for Jacobs the next day. According to a police report, he was arrested Monday near the intersection of Myrick Avenue and Woodruff Street.

Jacobs is being held without bond at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
