William Arthur Humphrey, 56, a long time resident of Suffolk and Gates County, N.C., passed away Sept. 16, 2015. He was born in Nansemond County to Shirley Turner Humphrey and the late Vance Hamilton Humphrey. William was a self-employed plumber.

William is survived by his mother; sisters, Joyce Byrd (Harold), Alice Payne (Lee), Carolyn Sue Humphrey; brother, Eddie Humphrey (Lucille); great-aunt, Edith B. Wilkins; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Tim Rawls officiating. Burial will follow at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434.
