Holland Baptist Church will show the film “Virtuous” on Sunday, and the writer will be among the guest stars in attendance.
“It’s exciting,” said Carol Warren, a member at the church who is helping coordinate the visit. “It’s just a new way they reach out to churches and Christians to be able to share Christian films.”
Warren said the film company, JC Films, contacted the church to see if they had any available dates to show the film.
“We welcomed them to come and share this,” Warren said.
JC Films has been involved with other Christian films in recent years, including “Uncommon” and “Finding Faith.”
“Virtuous” stars Erik Estrada of the 1970s and ’80s TV series CHiPs, Erin Bethea, who has also been in Christian films “Fireproof” and “Facing the Giants,” Ben Davies of Christian film “Courageous,” and Jessica Lynch, the U.S. Army soldier who was captured in Iraq in 2003 and later recovered by U.S. Special Operations Forces. Her role in “Virtuous” is loosely based on her experience in the war.
Warren said the basic theme of the film is “What does a modern-day Proverbs 31 woman look like in today’s culture?”
Proverbs 31 describes a virtuous woman as having a price “far above rubies.”
Warren said the verses in Proverbs 31 that especially speak to her are verse 20: “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy” and verse 30: “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
The film begins at 4 p.m. at the church, 6519 Holland Road. A voluntary love offering will be collected.
