The Nansemond River High School field hockey team avenged several losses in recent years to Grassfield High School by defeating the host Lady Grizzlies 3-2 on Monday.

“I felt like our girls really kept their composure and played as a team,” Lady Warriors coach Ali Mowry said on Tuesday. “Their effort was great yesterday. Their intensity never let down, and they didn’t get rattled by the score of the game either.”

Grassfield held a 2-1 lead at one point in the second half, but not for long. NR senior Jaclyn Mounie scored her second goal of the game 32 seconds later, assisted by junior Ariana Samuel.
