Suffolk police officers discovered two suspected explosive devices in the 4400 block of Godwin Boulevard while on an unrelated call Wednesday.
The original call took place at 5:30 p.m., city spokeswoman Diana Klink said. Once on scene, officers discovered the devices, and a search warrant was executed.
The Virginia State Police Bomb Squad and members from the U.S. Navy Explosive Disposal Ordinance responded, Klink said.
An old, rusted projectile and a rusted World War II air-dropped bomb were located and removed, Klink said. The experts discovered there were no explosive components in the items, she added.
