Rain cancels events

The threat of rain Friday has canceled two events so far.
The block party and ribbon-cuttings planned to celebrate business openings on West Washington Street has been postponed to a date still to be determined.
In addition, the 20th annual Treasurer’s United Way Golf Tournament at Nansemond River Golf Club has been postponed to the scheduled rainout date of Oct. 9.
