Police investigate attempted robbery

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place Thursday shortly before midnight.

The male victim and his fiancée had returned home from the store and were sitting in the vehicle in the driveway of the residence in the 1400 block of Blythewood Lane in the East Suffolk Gardens neighborhood, according to a city press release.

About 11:55 p.m., a black male approached them, displayed a firearm and demanded money, according to the press release. A struggle ensued and the firearm discharged, but no one was injured and no items were taken from the victims.

The subject immediately fled the scene on foot. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is currently available.
