Police investigate shooting

Suffolk police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday afternoon.

The shooting occurred in the 500 block of Kissimmee Avenue in downtown Suffolk at 2:05 p.m., according to a city press release.

The victim, a 21-year-old black male, suffered a gunshot wound and was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and do not have a suspect or motive at this time, according to the release.
