Prosecutors have decided not to prosecute a Suffolk man who had been charged with 24 counts of sexual crimes when the alleged victim recanted her accusations.

Prosecutor Marie Walls said the case against Corey Jerome Smith, 35, is not proceeding.

Smith had faced 24 criminal counts.

He appeared in court Oct. 8, when prosecutors agreed not to pursue the charges. A trial had been set for Thursday.

Smith was arrested in May and indicted in June. The alleged victim was a family member under the age of 18.
