City to observe Veterans Day

In observance of Veterans Day, Suffolk city offices will be closed Nov. 11. Normal operations will resume Nov. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
The following departments and facilities will observe the following hours:
The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
All Suffolk City Libraries will be closed Wednesday.
The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Wednesday.
Suffolk Parks & Recreation joint use recreation facilities will be closed Wednesday.
East Suffolk Recreation Center, Whaleyville Community Center, and the Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be closed on Wednesday.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open Wednesday, but no park attendant will be on duty.
The Suffolk Executive Airport will remain open on Wednesday, but the terminal will not be manned.
Suffolk Public Works Department and TFC Recycling will pick up trash and recycling on a one-day delay. Wednesday’s route will be picked up on Thursday. Thursday’s route will be picked up on Friday. Friday’s route will be picked up on Saturday. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District will have their collection days run on regular schedule for the week. Trash should be placed curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 514-7630.
Suffolk Transit will operate as scheduled on Wednesday.
The Southeastern Public Safety Authority Transfer Station in Suffolk and the regional landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Wednesday.
