Bobby, a lover of music, was the organist for the First Baptist Church of Suffolk for 40 years. A godly man, he served as a deacon and a member of the Businessmen’s Bible Class and was often seen enjoying himself at the Wednesday night suppers.

An avid learner himself, Bobby loved his early career as an educator. Receiving his bachelor’s degree as well as his master’s degree in science and education from the University of Richmond, Bobby taught many young students at Churchland High School of Portsmouth. There, he also was the head of the Language Department for several years. In his nearly 40-year career, he not only taught the ancient language of Latin but also taught the core values of life.

Bobby had many loves: his God, his family, his church family and friends. He loved music, travel and of course good Southern food.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister and her husband, Anna Moore Weiler and Tony Weiler, of Fort Myers, Fla., and his sister-in law, Phyllis Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James “Jimmy” Moore.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Nov. 16, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St., in Suffolk. Dr. Thurman R Hayes Jr. will be officiating the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration in the gathering hall. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
