The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts will host a special one-time free performance of “A Chowan Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21. The performance will feature John Rutter’s “Magnificat,” along with other seasonal favorites.

Presented by the full sounds of the Masterworks Orchestra and ensembles from Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C., this performance is sure to kick off the holiday season in dramatic style.

As the composer John Rutter explains, The Magnificat is “a poetic outpouring of praise, joy and trust in God, ascribed by Luke to the Virgin Mary on learning that she was to give birth to Christ.”
