William Calvin “W.C.” Harvell Jr., 78, of Suffolk, was called by His Savior to his Heavenly Home, Nov. 15, 2015, with his family by his side.

W.C. was born in Suffolk on Oct. 16, 1937. He was the son of the late William Calvin Harvell Sr. and Emma Elizabeth Harrell.

W.C. was a lifelong serviceman. Not only did he serve His Lord, but also he proudly and honorably served his country and lovingly did everything in service for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gale Bailey Harvell; daughter, Deborah Harvell Pont and husband, Michael; sons, Barry Harvell and wife, Cindy, and Stephen Harvell; and was blessed by his grandchildren, Aaron, Meaghan, Ryan, Nicholas, Zachary, Darius, Heather, Steven and a very special granddaughter, Sydney, that he considered his own daughter; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Gerline Bailey; and brothers, Raymond and Willard Harvell.

A funeral service will be held at Baker Foster Funeral Home, Bennett’s Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Eclipse.
