Off-roaders will have a good reason to take to the course behind Starr Motors’ Pruden Boulevard location this Saturday.

The dealership will hold its third off-road day for Toys for Tots. Off-roaders must bring a toy to be able to run the course. It’s also collecting toys in the back of a pickup truck in the showroom through Dec. 18.

“It means so much for us to be involved in this community,” said Ed White, a member of the management team at Starr Motors. “It makes it all worthwhile.”

The dealership is involved in a number of charitable pursuits. But Joe Bonney, service manager at Starr Motors, said it’s enjoyable to be able to involve customers, as well. The dealership also holds an off-road day in the spring as a Relay For Life fundraiser.

“It’s nice when you have customers involved with you while you’re doing it,” Bonney said.

Bonney said it’s fun to see the generosity of the community. Many people bring bicycles, and the different car clubs have a friendly competition.

The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the dealership, 2584 Pruden Blvd. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be available hot from the grill.

The Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund also supports Toys for Tots. Donations to the Cheer Fund are printed in the Suffolk News-Herald and can be made in honor of or in memory of a loved one. The donor can be listed anonymously if he chooses. The donor can also have his photograph taken giving the check to be published in the newspaper.

To give, write a check payable to the Cheer Fund and mail it to P.O. Box 1220, Suffolk, VA 23439, or stop by our office at 130 S. Saratoga St. Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
