Jesse Lynell “Buddy” Sylver, 85, of 110 Foxworth Circle, Suffolk, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at his residence. He was a native of Warren County, N.C., and the son of William Sylver and Lucy Sylver Lynch.

He attended Warren County Schools. He was retired and previously worked at the U.S. Postal Service and Newport News Shipyard. He was a member of Rising Saint James Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sandra Sylver; one daughter, Carmen, of Suffolk; two sons, Ronald (Felisha), of North Wales, Pa., and Thomas, of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters, Eneda Eaton and Alice Stewert, both of Raleigh, N.C.; one brother, Herbert Sylver, of Hampton; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Rising St. James Church officiated by Elder Sean Gaines. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
