A Suffolk woman on Monday pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge after having been charged with abuse and neglect of children and cruelty and injuries to children.
Laniece Deshawn Wilson pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a reduced charge from child cruelty. The child abuse and neglect charge was not prosecuted.
Police were called to the 400 block of Teton Circle on Sept. 5 after Wilson’s 4-year-old son was found wandering by himself near a retention pond.
Preliminary investigation found the mother had left the residence while the child was asleep alone in the house, according to a city spokeswoman. She went to two different shopping centers while she was out.
She received a suspended sentence of one year in jail.
