Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

• Dia Gray, junior for Nansemond River High School wrestling: He defeated elite Smithfield High School senior Ross Manfred by a 3-1 decision in the 285-pound weight class final on the evening of Dec. 19, becoming the only wrestler from a Suffolk school to win a final in the large Mike Duman Toys for Tots Invitational Tournament. This was the second straight year Gray defeated Manfred 3-1 in the final.
• Kelly Hogan, junior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy basketball: She helped her team go 2-1 during a South Carolina-based tourney. In Tuesday’s 45-38 win over Mauldin High School, she led her team and tied for the game-high with 15 points, also adding eight rebounds. In Wednesday’s 63-38 win over Charlotte Latin School, she had nine points and two assists with a team-high nine boards and five steals.
