A Suffolk woman died in a crash on U.S. Route 58 Wednesday evening.

The crash was reported at 4:40 p.m. in the 1900 block of Portsmouth Boulevard eastbound, near the landfill, according to a city press release.

The crash involved a Chrysler Town & Country minivan and a Honda CRV. The driver of the minivan, Tameka R. Carter, 30, died at the scene. The driver of the Honda was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

The far right lane of the road near the crash site was closed for the remainder of the evening.

The accident remains under investigation.
