Snead Drive fire extinguished

Suffolk firefighters extinguished a fire that was believed to have originated in a washing machine on Wednesday morning.
The blaze was reported at 8:19 a.m., and the first units arrived on scene in the 1000 block of Snead Drive about four minutes later, according to a city press release.
Firefighters found smoke showing from the single-family residence. The fire was called under control at 8:45 a.m. It was believed to have originated in a washing machine, and damage is estimated at $1,000. The residents were not displaced.
One adult and two children were evaluated on the scene by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel for possible smoke inhalation, but they were not transported by emergency medical services, according to the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
