Andra M. Ricks of Gaithersburg, Md., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015.

He was a native of Nansemond County and born Dec. 10, 1967. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1987. He attended TESST College, Beltsville, Md., and finished courses in computer technology. He received a diploma in phlebotomy technology and training in welding. Andra was owner and operator of Andra’s Painting, Drywall and Welding.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Robert R. Ricks; paternal grandparents, Willie and Lossie Lassiter of Suffolk; and great grandmother, Annie Everett.

He leaves behind his wife, Hilda S. Ricks of Gaithersburg; three daughters, Brittany D. Jones of Portsmouth, Ebony S. Ricks of Sandy Springs, Ga., and Andrea Ricks of Gaithersburg; three grandchildren, Isaiah N. Jenkins and Kennedi N. Jenkins of Portsmouth and Phoenix Teteh of Sandy Springs, Ga.; his mother, Constance R. Ricks, and father, Rufus L. Lassiter, both of Suffolk; one faithful and devoted brother, Dr. Clayton L. Ricks of Tampa, Fla.; a grandmother, Doretha P. Ricks of Suffolk; two devoted cousins, Angela M. Wannamaker (Alonzo) of Accokeek, Md., and Monica M. Morris of Arizona; two devoted aunts, Wanda D. Parker of Baltimore, Md., and Dr. Felicia R. Doswell (Wilbert) of Suffolk; six aunts, five uncles and a host of cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church, 615 Spruce St., Suffolk. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Church.
