Police investigate metal thefts

Police are investigating two thefts of metal in the Harbour View area that took place earlier this week.

About $2,000 worth of copper flashing was reported stolen from a shipping container in the 6000 block of Harbourview Boulevard between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink. The trailer’s contents belonged to C.W. Brinkley.

In another incident, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning units were stolen from a building located in the 1000 block of Champions Way between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon, according to Klink. They were stolen from the rear of the building.

The investigation into both incidents is ongoing, Klink added.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text the keyword SPDVATIP and the tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
