Virginia State Police work the scene of a six-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 17 in Carrollton Friday morning.

One person is injured and one person is charged with reckless driving after a six-vehicle crash in Carrollton that shut down U.S. Route 17 during the morning rush on Friday.

The crash occurred just after 7 a.m. According to Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya, a 2012 Toyota Tacoma driven by Eric W. Blair of Smithfield was traveling northbound when he attempted to make a sudden lane change to avoid vehicles in the traffic lane.

The sudden change forced the driver of a Walgreens tractor-trailer, Darius E. Vaughan, to swerve to avoid collision with the truck, according to Anaya. As a result, the tractor-trailer lost control and overturned.

As Blair overcorrected, he struck two other vehicles. The tractor-trailer also struck two other vehicles as it overturned.

Blair has been charged with reckless driving, Anaya said.
