Player of the Week Nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Josh Covington, senior for Nansemond River High School basketball: In Saturday’s 62-51 overtime win over host J.R. Tucker High School, he recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, six steals, three assists and was named Outstanding Player of the Game. In Tuesday’s 54-51 upset home win over Grassfield High School, he had 21 points. Despite a Thursday road loss, he had 17 points, five assists and three steals.
- Caroline Hogg, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy basketball: She made a significant impact during the Lady Saints’ two games last week. In Thursday’s 59-47 road victory over Norfolk Christian School, she produced 15 points, 16 rebounds, six blocks, three assists and a steal. In a 65-18 road win over Hampton Roads Academy on Friday, she contributed 14 points and six boards.
- Amesha Miller, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: She had a team-high 20 points to go with 15 rebounds in the Lady Bulldogs’ 79-50 home win over Deep Creek High School on Thursday. In Tuesday’s 59-46 home win over Oscar Smith High School, she had a team-high 13 points, and she contributed 10 points to Friday’s 62-28 road win against Churchland High School.
