Woman robbed at gunpoint

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a business owner on East Washington Street Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery happened about 12:41 p.m. in the parking lot of the Supreme Park and Shop in the 400 block of East Washington Street, according to a city press release.

A citizen flagged down an officer after he found the adult female victim crying in the parking lot.

Investigators found the store owner was approached in the parking lot by two black males who demanded her purse at gunpoint. They fled on foot after receiving the purse and an undisclosed amount of currency. There were no injuries.

The subjects are believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, according to the press release. They were described as 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall. One had a medium build and wore a black hooded sweater, blue jeans and brown Timberland boots with a bandanna over his face. The second suspect had a thin build and was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.
