On Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, Benjamin Alexander Harris, otherwise known to us all as Junnie, transitioned into eternal life after a brief illness.

He was predeceased by his father, Alexander Harris Jr., and his daughter, Antionette Wynn. Junnie leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Alice V. Harris, wife, Tina Harris, along with his six children: Brian Gwaltney (Nikki); Sharonda Rodgers (Michael); Sparkle Grant (Amin); Devonne Jacobs (Marcus); Deonday Jacobs (Shanay) and Brittnee Harris (Don). He is also survived by his loving sister, Vanessa L. Harris, and brother, Adam Gainous. Junnie will be lovingly missed by his aunts, Margaret L. Vann and Catherine Harris, Connie Harris and Julia Rodgers Bradley, of Suffolk, his stepfather, Kenneth Gainous, and his 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

A homegoing service will be held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at 1 p.m., at East End Baptist Church, 523 E. Washington St., Suffolk, with Dr. Wayne Faison presiding and Dr. Arthur E. Wiggins, eulogist. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
