Virginia P. Saunders, 91, passed away Feb. 1, 2016. She was born in Isle of Wight County to the late Joseph and Mary Powell. She was a member of Providence Methodist Church of Suffolk. Virginia is predeceased by her husband, Benjamin, three brothers, and a sister.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Bobby Saunders (Jean), Linda Story (Jimmy), Billy Saunders (Linda); brothers, Joseph E. Powell (Carolyn), Charles L. Powell; sisters, Helen Saunders, Ann Eley, Betty Sue Pippin (Roy); sister-in-laws, Jean Powell, Judy Powell; grandchildren, Traci Jenkins (Clarence), Richard Saunders (Shannon), Tabitha Miles (Danny), Beth Saunders (Kenny), Jessica Moore (Mike), Travis Story (Ashley), Taylor Saunders; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at 1 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Garland Hines officiating.
