Charles Henry Elliott Jr., 91, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, in Suffolk. He was the son of the late Charles H. and Orie Elliott Sr. He is also predeceased by his brother, William “Bill” D. Elliott, and his sister, Mary E. Allison.

Born in North Carolina, Mr. Elliott attended Park Place Baptist Church, Bayview Baptist Church, both in Norfolk, Holland Baptist Church, and was a current member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Suffolk. He retired in 1980 after 39 years at Norfolk Naval Air Station as an aircraft mechanic. His hobbies included making model airplanes, working jigsaw puzzles and playing with his grandchildren. Mr. Elliott was also an Eagle Scout.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Mary B. Elliott; daughters, Dr. Brenda E. Cox and husband, Dr. B.B. Cox III, Mary “Louise” Elliott; grandsons, Wilson “Will” E. Spain, Kevin R. Spain and wife, Sherri; step-granddaughter, Jennifer C. Myers and husband, Dan Myers; three step-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Anna Elizabeth “Libby” White, Rachel Jeannine “Jean” Elliott; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1637 Holland Road, Suffolk, by the Rev. Tommy Speight with burial following in Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, at the above address.
