Myrtle G. Eason

Myrtle Gardner Eason, 91, died March 2, 2016. Born on the family farm in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grady Gardner and Bessie Howell Gardner. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James Lee “Jim” Eason, and a brother, Henry Howell Gardner. She lived on the Grady Gardner farm and dearly loved the farm life. She was the oldest lifetime member of South Quay Baptist Church and attended regularly when able. She was a member of the Adult Bible Class, the Believers Bible study group and Friendship Club. Myrtle was a 1942 graduate of Holland High School.

She is survived by a son, Hubert Grady “H.G.” Eason (Robin), a grandson, Grady Bryant Eason (Nicole), a great-grandson, George Hubert Eason, a sister-in-law, Mary H. Gardner, two nieces, Sheila Smith (Ken) and Linda Smart, a favorite cousin, Teresa Howell, and good friends who looked out for her, Bobby and Rita Boone and Richard and Desi Gish.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016, at South Quay Baptist church with the Rev. Amos Eby officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. and following the service at the church fellowship hall.
