Two people were sent to the hospital following a crash on Route 58 westbound on Friday evening.
It happened at 9:44 p.m. on the westbound side of the road, near the Chesapeake city line, according to a city press release.
The press release stated a Humvee was rear-ended by a Nissan Altima sedan.
Due to the large amount of debris across three lanes of the roadway, traffic was diverted onto the shoulder while crews worked the accident, the press release stated.
An adult male was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by ground ambulance with injuries not considered life-threatening.
A second patient was taken by Chesapeake Fire and Rescue, which had also responded, to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
