Thomas Richard Stevenson, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2016. He was born on March 4, 1934, in Tazewell to the late James and Ella Stevenson. He retired from Holmes Bros. in Portsmouth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth J. Stevenson; two daughters, Pamela J. Spencer and husband, Larry, and Katherine Palmer; a son, Thomas R. Stevenson Jr. and wife, Wanda; five sisters, Alice Day, Erma Tolbert, Donna Jones, Janice Stevenson and Debbie Mangus; two brothers, Doug and George Stevenson; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Keith Moore. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
