One man was killed and another was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle accident at the Towne Point Road exit on 164 West on Friday morning.

A police officer on patrol found a black Subaru sedan with heavy damage at the exit at 3:09 a.m., according to a press release from the Portsmouth Police Department.

Medics responded and declared one of the adult male occupants of the car deceased, with another having suffered serious injuries.

The injured man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Police had not released the names of the victims, and the incident was still under investigation Friday evening.
