NRHS places third, has best actor

Nansemond River High School’s Competition Theatre Team placed third in the Virginia High School League 5A Regional Theatre Festival on Feb. 20.

Savannah Miller of Nansemond River High School won best actor at the Virginia High School League 5A Regional Theatre Festival.
This was the fourth year in a row that the school’s theater festival, directed by Dr. Joleen Neighbours, appeared at regionals.
Along with placing third for their play, “Wit,” Nansemond River High School had the highest individual scoring performer in junior Savannah Miller. She adds the top prize to a wealth of awards this year, including VHSL All-Conference first place, Virginia Theatre Association All-State Actor, and two All-State playwriting awards from Virginia Theatre Association.
Next up for the Nansemond River High School Performing Arts Company is Disney’s “Aladdin,” which will play for the public May 4-7 at 7:30 p.m.
