Becerra to compete in pageant

A Nansemond River High School freshman will be competing in the National American Miss Virginia Pageant on July 14.



Larissa Colleen Becerra, 15, was selected as a state finalist to compete in the pageant’s Junior Teen competition at the Hyatt Regency Reston in Northern Virginia.

Larissa, who recently transferred to Nansemond River High School, enjoys painting, basketball, babysitting and taking care of pets. She hopes to study law in college.

The winner of the state pageant will receive a $1,000 cash prize, a crown and banner, and air transportation to the national pageant in California later this year.
