Player of the Week Nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Alex Feeney, eighth-grader for Suffolk Christian Academy baseball: In Thursday’s 9-5 home win against Broadwater Academy, he got a pitching win in his first mound appearance of the season, throwing five strikeouts and allowing only one earned run in three innings. He also went 2-for-4 with two singles, one RBI and two runs scored. In Tuesday’s 28-7 road win over the Beach Breakers, he had three hits.
- Brooklyne Carr, senior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball: She produced a couple of outstanding performances during a 3-0 week for the Lady Saints. In Wednesday’s 25-0 road victory over Norfolk Collegiate School, she went 5-for-5 with two singles, two doubles, a solo home run and four runs batted in. In Friday’s 10-1 road win over The Collegiate School in Richmond, she went 2-for-3 with a home run.
- Michael Blanchard, senior for Nansemond River High School baseball: He produced a dominant performance on the mound on Wednesday to help the Warriors defeat Western Branch High School, the defending Group 6A state champion. In the 8-2 home win, he pitched all seven innings, attacking the zone and getting quick outs, allowing only one walk, two hits and throwing eight strikeouts.
