John Willie White, 89, went to be with his Lord on April 15, 2016. He was born in Nansemond County as one of eight children to the late Willie Die White and Julia J. Jenkins. He is predeceased by two wives, Roselia Dale White and Dorothy Jones White; son, John Marshall White; and siblings, Thomas, Curtis, Lee, William (Bill), and Brantley. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Italian theater of Europe. He was a mechanic and welder for Virginia Trailer & Truck Body and was a longtime member of Suffolk Christian Church.

John is survived by his daughter, Laurie White Charlton and Warren, of Greenville, N.C.; son, James W. White and Joyce, of Knott County, Ky.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ludie; brother, Bruce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Suffolk Christian Church with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
