Player of the Week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Michael Blanchard, senior for Nansemond River High School baseball: He delivered an outstanding performance on the mound on Friday to help the Warriors secure a 1-0 win against visiting Grassfield High School, which entered the game undefeated and having ranked 50th in the nation on the CBS MaxPreps Xcellent 50. He pitched a complete game, threw nine strikeouts and allowed only three hits.
- Alex Feeney, eighth-grader for Suffolk Christian Academy baseball: He continued to be a powerhouse on offense for the Knights, helping lead them to a 15-3 victory over the host Beach Breakers on Thursday. He went 4-for-5 with one triple, three singles, two runs batted in and two runs scored on the day.
- Kay’Lee Justice, senior for King’s Fork High School softball: She produced a dominant performance in the circle for the Lady Bulldogs on Friday as they faced visiting Oscar Smith High School. She pitched a perfect game to help her team achieve a 15-0 victory.
