Mikayla Jean Short, 21, died on April 15, 2016, from a rare form of aggressive leukemia. She was born in Chesapeake to Robin Bolen Patterson and David Stephen Short. She is predeceased by her grandfather, Daniel Short Sr.

She was surrounded by many friends and family, and she was loved by so many people. She was a sweet and loving mother to her beautiful daughter. Her smile will live on in her daughter, Payton.
